Meeting Minutes for June 21, 2006
Attendees: Brett Barnhart, Bruce Stikkers, Amber Barnhart, Mary Kay Solecki, Patricia Barnhart, Donald Barnhart
Topics of Discussion
- Farm income from the 8 acres of State Owned Land along the road needs to stay within the prairie project. This will be approximately $800.
- http://www.ccswcd.com/ would like to add a link to our website on their website. Everyone was fine with this
- Grants are available through DNR for parking areas. This would need to be handicap accessible. Mary Kay let us know that the Nature Preserve status does not allow us to build any permanent paths within the nature preserve. Any paths will have to be mulch or grass and not concrete. Thus, any parking, handicap accessible paths, etc will need to be built on non-nature preserve status.
- Mary Kay has Nature Preserve signs that we need to put up
- Need to add a link on the prairie website to the Nature Preserve Special Use Permit application.
- Mary Kay is going to contact Ed D. about any benefits to build Franklin Ground Squirrel habitat to provide more suitable areas for breeding and foraging.
- Discussed putting up a sign at the entrance to the prairie with some basic rules. Amber also mentioned the idea of putting up a simple fence along the road, just to show that there is something going on. People would actually have to cross the fence to access the prairie instead of just parking and walking.
